E. Daniel Truffat

Daniel has focused his professional career on advising and assisting companies in commercial litigations, predominantly in complex restructuring processes, reorganization proceedings, preventive out-of-court agreements, corporate disputes and complex contracts.

He began his career as a law clerk of a first instance commercial court, continuing it later at Chehtman law firm and becoming a partner of Gustavo Naveira in 1995 giving rise to "Naveira, Truffat & Asociados" law firm.

In 2006 he was one of the founding partners of NTMDALL, law firm of which he was a partner until 2019, when he refounded Naveira, Truffat, Martínez Abogados law firm, together with Daniel Truffat and Oscar Martínez.

He also served as a Cabinet Advisor in the Undersecretariat of Justice of the Ministry of Justice of the Argentine Republic and in the Secretariat of Technical and Legislative Affairs of such ministry.

He received his law degree (JD equivalent) from the University of Buenos Aires in 1984 (with honors) and obtained a Doctorate in Law and Social Sciences from the National University of Córdoba in 2006. He has taught law courses at both public and private universities since his graduation, on occasion acting as a visiting professor. In 2020, he was appointed head of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Chair at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella.

He is a regular lecturer on bankruptcy and corporate law issues. He has published more than two hundred papers on his field of expertise and is the author of "The conversion of bankruptcy into a restructuring process", "Procedures for admission into reorganization liabilities" and "The new out-of-court preventive agreement".

He is recognized by Chambers & Partners as one of the leading insolvency and bankruptcy lawyers in Argentina.

At the insolvency level and among many other complex proceedings, he has participated in the salient extrajudicial preventive agreements (Acuerdos Preventivos Extrajudiciales) of Autopistas del Sol S.A., Cablevisión S.A., Multicanal S.A., Transportadora Gas del Norte S.A. Likewise, he chaired the bondholders' meeting of Alpargatas S.A.

Similarly, the representation of the following companies in their respective preventive reorganization proceedings stands out: Puentes del Litoral S.A., Camino de la Sierra S.A., Sociedad Comercial del Plata S.A., Compañía General de Combustibles S.A., Veinfar S.A., Renesa S.A., Cabelma S.A., Calimboy S.A., Supercanal S.A. and Glovoaves S.A.

It has been very significant his participation as legal advisor to the receivers of the reorganization proceedings of Aerolineas Argentinas S.A., Aguas Argentinas S.A., Trenes de Buenos Aires S.A., CRZ Construcciones S.R.L. as well as the bankruptcy receiver of Oil Combustibles S.A.

He also participated in the acquisition of assets in the following bankruptcies: Cerámicas Zanón S.A., Productos Textiles S.A., Acetatos Argentinos S.A. (In the three bankruptcies, a third party was satisfactorily advised on the acquisition of the failed industrial plant through the “improvement of supply” procedure.
